The details involved in a commissioned painting include:
Scale, Surface, Orientation
We will decide on the scale of your painting and what surface you would like me to paint on. Canvas (framed or unframed), wood panel, or fine art paper. Orientation refers to horizontal, vertical, or a both.
Budget
Your budget will be largely based on the scale and complexity of the work. We discuss this before I begin your painting.
Deposit
I accept a %50 deposit before I begin your painting. Final payment is due before I ship the painting to you. I provide you with a receipt of the deposit and a final receipt once the commission is finished and shipped. There is a $50 fee to get started, but you won't be charged the %50 deposit until we finalize all of the steps outlined here.
1-1 Communication
We correspond through email and/or Instagram. Instagram is great for sending quick snaps of my progress.
Palette, Composition, and Marks
Scroll through my paintings for sale here, and tell me what you are drawn to, what speaks to you. What colour combinations and marks would you like to see implemented into your painting? I will provide you with a swatch of colours and you choose three base colours. We will discuss what marks and texture resonate the most for you.
Schedule
I work in the time frame of one month from start (after we have finalized all of the above steps) to completion. The shipping dates are not included in the completion schedule.
